Celebrating Cervical Cancer Awareness Month with Emma Lewis

The Layman's Doctor speaks with blogger Emma Lewis about her experience with Cervical Cancer in an effort to encourage screening through Pap smears and getting the HPV vaccine for both girls, boys, men and women.
In this episode, The Layman's Doctor speaks with blogger Emma Lewis about her experience with cervical cancer and its recurrence. Emma had her first diagnosis in the 1970s when she was in her early 20's. This is before the Human Papillomavirus vaccine was created. Interestingly, her medical records were used in research surrounding cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women and is easily detectable with yearly Pap smears. Now with the HPV vaccine, we can prevent cervical cancer. Both men and women benefit from getting this vaccine. Speak with your healthcare provider about getting vaccinated.
